Bella, a Labrador cross, has died at the age of 29. David Richardson bought Bella from the RSPCA 26 years ago when she was three years old. There was some speculation in the past on whether or not she really was 3 years old at the time he got her. Bella was staying with Richardson, 76, and his partner Daisy, 81, since 1982 in Clay Cross, Derbyshire. Richardson has no documentation from the RSPCA stating Bella's age, but he insists that he was told she was 3 years old at the time he brought her home. Bella died of a heart attack on Saturday in Lincolnshire where the couple had gone on holiday. They had just come up to Mablethorpe where they always go on holiday because of the dogs. When Bella started panting and yelping and collapsed in front of the sofa, they took her to the veterinarian. She was so ill and she had to be put to sleep. Bella has died at the age of 203 in human years. The Guinness World Records say the most recent record for the oldest dog was held by Butch, a 28-year-old from America who died in 2003. The oldest dog ever was Bluey, a sheepdog from Australia, who also lived to 29.
