Walking His Dog While Driving

by K9Ring March 05, 2010 13:26

A man from England decided to take laziness to another level. Paul Railton got his driver's license suspended for 6 months after he walked his dog while driving his car. He got 3 demerit points on top of 6 that he previously had, so his 9 points led to the suspension of his driver's license. He was driving at 5 mph on a quiet street but despite his excuse, he was deemed not to have had proper control of the vehicle as he was walking his dog next to his car. We thought that texting and driving was a bad enough idea, but this guy took irresponsibility to a whole new level. We hope that this will teach some common sense others who may have thought of trying such a thing.

Having a dog walk next to your car is not only dangerous for your dog, but also to other drivers sharing the same road as you. If you are so lazy that you cannot and do not want to walk your dog, then do not get a dog, period.

Walking your dog should be a fun activity that is good for both your dog's health and your health, and not something that is done just because your dog must walk. In addition, walking your dog can eliminate many problems your dog may have including obesity, boredom, and bad behavior. Walking your dog twice a day for 30 min to 1 hour will make your dog a lot calmer and happier when you come back home as he will be able to drain some of that excess energy and socialize with other dogs and people.

The World's Tallest Dog in 2010

by K9Ring February 22, 2010 17:41

Guinness World Records says a Great Dane in the U.S. standing 3 feet, 7 inches (1.09 metres) tall from paw to shoulder is the tallest dog ever on record. He is 7 feet, 3 inches tall when 'standing' on his back legs! If the NBA needed a tall center, he could surely lend some help.

Giant George, who lives in Tuscon, is three-quarters of an inch (2 centimetres) taller than his closest rival - Titan, a white Great Dane from San Diego.

Before Titan, the record was held by another Great Dane, Gibson, of Grass Valley, California, who stood at 42.2 inches tall but passed away from bone cancer last year.

Guinness officials say there were conflicting reports about Giant George's height, so they sent a judge to verify it.

Days after he was declared a record-breaker, Giant George appeared on the Oprah Winfrey show.

The 4-year-old, 250-pound (115-kilogram) blue Great Dane is owned by Christine and David Nasser. He sleeps in his own queen-size bed and consumes 110 lb of food each week.

Big Dog In a Small Dog's Body

by K9Ring December 05, 2009 23:19

The litle dog in this picture must have some Napoleon complex. He took the big bed from the big dog and made the big dog sleep in his small bed. Maybe he thinks he is bigger than he really is or wants to show the big dog who is the boss.

Dog VS. Praying Mantis

by K9Ring December 05, 2009 14:35

As you can see, the dog was heavily favored in this fight. The praying mantis was fighting an opponent totally out of its league when it comes to weight and size but if you watched Kung Fu Panda, you know that the praying mantis should not be underestimated. Despite these shortcomings, the praying mantis put on a great fight. It seems that both of them got KO'd in the end or got very tired after this epic battle. If you want the real ending, then you can take a look here: http://ihuche.com/2009/10/archives/1564.html. Let's just say, this fight did not end so well for the praying mantis.

The World’s Manliest Accessory

by K9Ring October 21, 2009 22:33

We just had a post about people pushing their dogs in strollers and here is another example of why pets should not be treated as accessories or human beings. In this picture, I do not know what is worse, the fact that the dog is not getting a daily exercise or the guy who thinks he is cool carrying a tiny dog in a pink baby carrier. Being seen with a tiny dog is pretty emasculating on its own, so this guy either likes to feel emasculated or he is a genius that discovered the perfect chick magnet. Whatever it might be, I just hope that it does not become a trend.

The Best Halloween Costume Ever!

by K9Ring October 21, 2009 18:30

This has to be one the best if not the best dog Halloween costume anyone has ever created! Can you imagine the expression on the face of the person when they open the door at night and see first this three-headed monster sniffing for candy? If they love dogs, then they may take it easier but imagine a person who is afraid of dogs. Seeing that would be a treat! Happy Howloween!

Dog Too Lazy to Walk

by K9Ring October 21, 2009 17:52

This Bulldog (most likely their owner Wink) seems to not understand the concept of walking a dog. A dog has four legs and they are used for walking. This owner apparently thinks that their dog is too precious to walk or they literally think that their dog is their child. He looks like he is still puppy and if he does not have an illness, there is no reason why he should not walk. Dogs that sit all day in the house, or in this case, sit in a baby stroller outside when supposed to walk become overweight easily and can have serious health problems. She is not doing any favor to this dog, just making him more immobile.

Sadly, this is not the first time I have seen a person doing this. In a park nearby while walking my boxer, I have seen a woman walk with two Yorkies in an enclosed type of a stroller and they were jumping and barking loudly as she was walking. One of them was showing his frustration by chewing the mesh and trying to get out. They were perfectly healthy dogs and capable of walking, but their owner preferred to push them in a stroller for an unknown reason. Just remember, dogs need to run and need daily exercise to stay healthy and walking them in a stroller will only make you look ridiculous and your dog unhappy.

The World's Tallest Dog

by K9Ring July 21, 2009 20:57

In 2004, the Guinness Book of World Records named Gibson the world's tallest dog. Gibson, a Harlequin Great Dane, who measured 107 cm (42.2 in) tall on August 31, 2004 is owned by Sandy Hall of Grass Valley, California, USA. When Gibson stands on his hind legs, he is more than 7 feet tall. He is taller than most NBA basketball players and weighs 170 pounds (77 kg). What is his favorite past time? He likes being a couch potato. Gibson is active in therapy work and has been featured in many newspapers and magazines. He even appeared on Larry King Live, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, and Oprah. He has fathered puppies of his own that usually end up being tall like their father and is part of the Great Danes Exclusive kennel.

Recently, Gibson had his front right leg amputated due to complications from bone cancer, which was found in one of his paws. The surgery was performed to prevent the cancer from further spreading and he seems to be recuperating well at home. We are sending warm wishes for Gibson's health and wish him to recover quickly.

The World's Smallest Dog

by K9Ring July 17, 2009 19:27
smallest dog

At barely the height of a tea cup, Maltese terrier pup Scooter could well be the smallest dog in world.

The tiny ball of white fluff is just 8cm tall and measures just over 20cm from his nose to his tail. While Scooter is still young, he appears to have stopped growing. The Guinness Book of World Records title holder - a long-haired chihuahua in America named Boo Boo - is bigger at just over 10cm tall. Scooter's size is also evident in his weight, or lack of it. He weighs less than a block of butter at 400 grams - and that is while he is wearing clothes. -- dailytelegraph.com.au

Owner Cheryl McKnight, from Gisborne on the east coast of New Zealand's North Island says that she got Scooter for free from her sister and that he was from a litter of 3, where the other 2 puppies grew to a normal size and Scooter stopped growing before he reached 2 months.

Let's just hope that this miniature ('teacup') puppy was not produced as a result of selective breeding where the breeder was purposefully breeding to achieve the miniature size as such actions can have a negative impact on the breed's standard and the breed's health over time. If you would like to obtain more infomation about 'teacups' and why breeding them is wrong, then follow the link: http://www.barkrescue.net/teacup.htm
